Best Way to Clean Makeup Brushes and Sponges

How to clean makeup brushes:

So we all know that you have to clean your brushes, preferably ever month, but the question is how? Well this is how I always clean mine.

What you need:
- 2 table spoons of washing up liquid
- 1 table spoon of olive oil
- A "squirt" of conditioner
- A bowl
-Some dirty brushes

Step1
In a bowl but the washing up liquid and the olive oil and mix. The soap gets rid of makeup product and the oil helps condition the brushes.

Step2
Dip you first brush into the mixture and then rub into the palm of your hand. There should be quite a lot of foaming.

Step3
Rub each brush into the palm of your hand for about a minute and then rise under water.

Step4
Chuck any left over mixture away. In the bowl put some warm water and hair conditioner into a bowl (you don't have to do this step, but it gives your brushes a nicer feel to them).Rinse your brushes in it and then leave to dry.

How to clean makeup sponges:

Sponges absorb all of the product you use, especially foundation, so for a better application you should wash them regularly. Its super easy all you need to do is run warm water and put a bit of face soap on the sponge. Rub the soap in and you will see all the makeup run down the the sink. Its so super simple so you really should do it as much as possible.

Makeup Tips

5 tips for the best results when wearing makeup...

1.    If you have shiny, oily skin put a light powder on shiny patches before you put your foundation on. What? I thought it was weird the first time I read it but I thought I'd have a go anyway ... It worked so well do you know when you put powder over foundation you get such a powdery look - this completely eliminates that. Only problem if you apply to much then you powder mixes with foundation and goes a bit strange: so be careful.

2.    Do your mascara before you do your face makeup. Sounds quite obvious however I thought I would mention it again as its super important. When you do your mascara often it goes around you eye on the lid and below so, you have to take it off your skin. This takes off your makeup as well so, do your face makeup after mascara.

3.    Always throw out expired makeup. Make sure you are aware of when your makeup expires - each product is different. your makeup will go gloppy and horrible and will not look good and mascara you have to be careful with bacteria.
  • Mascara 4 months
  • Blusher 18 months
  • Nail varnish 2 years
  • Powder 18 months
  • Foundation 8 months
  • Eyeliner 1 year
4.     Clean brushes every couple of months and sponges every week. Brushes and sponges collect the bacteria and oils off your face which can cause breakouts also your makeup will go on better with clean applicators.

5.     Always clean your face before applying makeup. Washing your face gets rid of dirt so your makeup will go on better. Wash your face with your normal cleanser, then splash your face with cold water to close your pores. By "closing" your pores it prevent makeup getting into your pores which can cause some skin problems.

Barry M Nail Polish Gelly Shine Review

Barry M's Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Polish

Love this so so so much. This is my favorite nail polish in the world and probably everyone else's. At boots and superdrug its £3.99 which is a decent price. Its so shiny (suppose that's why its called hi-shine) therefor it doesn't need a top coat, so you can take less time doing your nails-also do your nails less frequently because they don't chip and last for ages. All of Barry M's nail polishes are super good but these are even better, they come in such beautiful colours like: Blueberry, Pomegranate, Prickly pear and Mango ,bit of a fruit theme there. I would recommend these to anyone and the only down side is they are often low in stock because they are so popular.

Rimmel London ScandalEyes Show Off Mascara Review

Rimmel London ScandalEyes Show Off Mascara. It's normally £6.99 but I got it in Wilkinson's for £5. I think this is properly my favourite mascara I've ever tried (that's a lot). I've had it about a week and it's amazing !! It feels like it is practically impossible to get clumps with it - which is a dream.

The rounded bit at the end is great for emphasizing the edges of your lashes. the first time I used it I thought there was nothing on the brush but I suppose that's how it doesn't give clumps. It really spreads out my lashes and makes it look like they are thicker.

It only come in black not brown or waterproof which doesn't bother me but I suppose it could be annoying if you live in a humid area. The mascara is much less 'gloopy' than normal formulas so when applying it doesn't end up all around my eyes. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone and everyone.

Autumn Skin Care tips

How to prevent dry skin

As autumn comes around and the heating is turned on my skin becomes even drier than normal. So if any of you out there suffer like me here are my tips and favourite products to help.

  1. Remove makeup with cream cleanser for example Simple's Purifying Cleansing Lotion. it removes all makeup and dirt as well as moisturising your skin. It's less drying than normal cleansers.
  2. After cleansing always apply a moisturiser. On drier patches use a thicker moisturiser, but ensure it doesn't clog pores as this will give you spots I would recommend Simple's Vital Vitamin Night Moisturiser. On less dry patches it's still important to moisturise. I would use Simple's Hydrating Light Moisturiser.
  3. Moisturirise and prime before makeup. makeup dries out  skin so priming almost acts as a barrier to prevent makeup getting into pores.
  4. Always remove makeup as soon as possible. When you come home from school or work and you have nothing else too do remove makeup and moisturise. The less time makeup spends on your skin the better.
  5. Turn down the temperate of the water you shower in. Hot water will remove the moisture from your skin so have warm showers not hot showers.

Favourite products to prevent dry skin:

  • Simple Purifing Cleansing Lotion
  • Simple Vital Vitamin Night Moisturiser
  • Simple Hydrating Light  Moisturier
  • Nivea  Daily Eseentials Rich Regenerating Night Cream
  • Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer
The Simple skin care range in my opinion is better although, I do use Nivea as well. I find Nivea to be more pore blocking and its generally more expensive than simple. The best thing about simple creams is they're always natural and contain vitamins for the skin.

I hope this helped xx

Review of Miss Sporty So Matte Perfect Stay Foundation

Miss Sporty So Matte Perfect Stay Foundation

I have been using this foundation for the last 2 years and I love it. I have it in light and it only cost £3.49 which is great (especially when you don't have much money). It never gives an orange look and it blends very well. It doesn't leave my skin totally dried out, which is great considering I have the driest skin ever!

It gives great coverage and even covers my freckles, which no other foundation has ever done. It's a silicone based foundation therefor it gives an even natural coverage. When I put it on in the morning it lasts me until 8 at night and requires barley concealer on top. Personally my favorite thing about this is the colour I have never had foundation this light. Another benefit is the matte finish it doesn't require any powder on top as it leaves a perfect matte finish.

Negatives would be its only available in 4 colours so it will only be good for certain skin tones. I would apply this with a foundation brush or sponge as using hands can make it look cakey and spread bacteria to your skin.

Leave any comments you have on this foundation xx
